Abstract
The internet traffic forecast reported by renowned research group indicates that the recent huge increase in the Internet traffic is just a start signal of a data explosion. The data explosion induces unaffordable amount of investment and as a consequences, degradation of service would be inevitable. CDN (Content Delivery Network), often quoted as a solution of the data explosion, reduces data traffic by placing edge servers at a major node (e.g. IDC) in network. A user experiences substantial enhancement in download speed since CDN helps users to be served by the nearest edge server. Saving transit cost for ISP is a bonus. The CDN had evolved along with growth of traditional CDN players, but as Telco started to participate in CDN market, new perspective of CDN, Telco CDN (= ISP CDN or Operator CDN) is observed recently. This paper discusses about general concepts of CDN, recent industrial trends and the evolution path with respected to Telco CDN
