Abstract
In this paper, a novel blind equalizer exhibiting a low residual error and fast convergence speed is proposed. The proposed equalizer employs the dual-mode modified constant modulus algorithm (MCMA) with modified parameters in the blind mode and the decision-directed (DD) algorithm in the steady-state mode after convergence. A convergence detector is proposed to help the dual-mode MCMA switch to the DD algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed equalizer has a better performance in comparison with the constant modulus algorithm (CMA), MCMA, and dual-mode MCMA.
