초록

현재의 이동통신 시스템은 수많은 통신 규격이 공존하는 상태이며, 끊임없이 증가하는 사용자 요구 사항에 따라 계속해서 새로운 규격이 등장할 것이고, 그 속도 또한 빨라지는 추세이다. SDR (Software Defined Radio)은 뛰어난 재구성 능력으로 인해 다양한 서비스와 프로토콜을 지원할 수 있어 현재와 미래의 통신 시스템 간의 상호 운용성을 제공할 수 있는 가장 훌륭한 대안으로 고려된다. 본 논문에서는 SDR 기반 기지국 상용화를 위해 요구되는 핵심 기술과 문제점을 제시하고, HSDPA와 WiMAX를 지원하는 SDR 기반 다중모드 기지국에 대해서 소개한다.

Abstract

In the current mobile communication system the multiple communication standards coexist and the new standards will continuously emerge in accordance with the continuously growing user demands and it tends to accelerate. SDR (Software Defined Radio) provides the superior reconfigurability to support a wide range of services and protocols and thus it is considered as the most promising technology enabling interoperability between existing and future mobile communication systems. In this paper we present core techniques and challenges required for the commercial realization of SDR-based base station and introduce the developed multimode base station based on SDR technology, supporting HSDPA and WiMAX.
