구성주의적 관점에서의 교육텍스트 분석: 한국과 대만 대학입시 영어지문을 중심으로

본 연구는 한국과 대만의 대학입시 영어시험 지문들을 구성주의적인 인식론의 관점에서 분석하였다. 연구자들은 영어시험지문을 분석하는데 있어 세가지의 분석틀(지문과 피평가자와의 상호작용 정도, 차이에 대한 개방성 정도, 지문 소재가 내포한 지식의 영역)을 사용하였으며, 최근 3개년(2001-2003)의 영어지문을 분석하였다. 연구결과는 한국의 영어지문이 대만에 비하여 총체적으로 구성주의적인 특성이 강한 것으로 나타났으며 대만의 경우는 2001년 이후부터 지문의 형태와 내용이 지속적으로 구성주의적인 방향으로 전환되고 있는 것으로 관찰되었다. 그러나 보다 세부적으로 살펴보면, 우리나라 수능영어 지문의 지식영역(소재)에 있어서는 상당히 구성주의적이라고 할 수 있으나 차이에 대한 개방성, 상호작용의 정도에 있어서는 구성주의적인 지향이 지배적인 것으로는 관찰되지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구는 최근 교육과정 각론 및 교육학 분야에서 강조되고 있는 구성주의적인 패러다임이 평가 지문의 선별과 조직에 반영되어야 함을 지적하고, 한국과 대만 모두 구성주의에 입각한 평가지문 구성의 필요성에 대한 이해와 실천을 강조하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 한계를 지적하고 향후 보다 발전된 연구를 위해 고려해야할 문제들을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This study explored the English test texts in university entrance examinations of Korea and Taiwan from a constructivist epistemological perspective. Three English tests from years 2001-2003 were selected as sample data from each country for analysis. At the entry stage of the analysis, three researchers independently examined the test texts based on constructivist perspectives by employing a qualitative coding approach. Through a series of coding seminars, the researchers then narrowed the features down to three coding frameworks. The three frameworks have been composed of 1) interaction (whether the relationship between the text and the test takers is interactive or not), 2) diversity (whether the text recognize the social diversities and/or the individual differences), and lastly 3) proximity of the topical knowledge (whether the difficulty level of the topical knowledge is appropriate for the test takers to approach). The findings have indicated that the Korean test texts have represented more interactive features than those of Taiwan. In addition, the Korean test texts illustrated that the text writers have more tolerance toward the social diversities and the individual differences than those of Taiwan. However, from the year of 2002, the Taiwanese test texts have started to demonstrate some level of interaction and diversity features. For the final framework, the Korean test texts have employed more approachable topical knowledge than those of Taiwan. Based upon the findings, suggestions have been made to increase value awareness of the test designers and administrators in the field.
