차세대 통신 산업에서 이슈가 되고 있는 유무선 통합 서비스가 사용자들에게는 One-Stop 서비스를 통한 효용 증대, 요금 할인 등의 다양한 이점을 제공하고, 통신 사업자들은 신규 서비스 창출을 통한 새로운 수입원 발굴, 전반적인 운용 비용 절감 등의 다양한 혜택을 얻을 것으로 기대하고 있다. 그러나, 성공적인 유무선 통합 서비스 제공을 위해서는 동시 통신이 가능한 단말의 위치를 관리하는 과정에서 발생되는 과도한 전력소모 문제를 해결해야 한다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 유무선 통합망 환경에서 단말의 위치관리를 위한 동시적 위치갱신 및 선택적 페이징 알고리즘을 제안한다. 기존 페이징 알고리즘의 비효율적인 측면을 분석하고 제안한 알고리즘의 우수성을 판단하기 위해 단말의 위치관리에 소요되는 비용을 수학적으로 분석하였다.
Abstract
Fixed Mobile Convergence(FMC) which is one of the most noticeable issues at next generation communication industry is expected to give valuable benefits to both users and service providers; Users benefit from increasing efficiency through One-Stop service, reduced rates. Service providers benefit from exploiting income sources with newly launched services and reduced operating expenses. However, we have power-consumption problem which arises from performing location update and terminal paging on FMC network. For successful FMC services, we have to develop cost-effective location management. In this paper, we propose simultaneous location update algorithm and selective paging algorithm for cost-effective location management in FMC environment. In performance analysis, we show that the proposed algorithm improve power consumption for location management in FMC environment.
