Abstract
The current study focused on the use of ICT in the classroom. The purpose of this research was to analyze the status of teachers' use ICT in elementary school classrooms. This study included observations of teachers’ classes and interviews with teachers. The data from this study were collected from 54 classroom observations and 14 interviews. All data were collected over a three-month period from September to December, 2007. In this study, teachers mainly used ICT as a tool to deliver instructional content. Teachers preferred to use teaching sites that are skillfully designed for convenient use without any prior preparation. Teachers tried to attract attention and motivate students, but their efforts were related to teacher-centered, lecture-style teaching methods. The findings revealed that teachers’ instructional strategies tend to be more teacher-centered when teachers use ICT in the classroom. The results of this study will help to develop ICT in the right direction and furnish useful information to those interested in ICT.
