초록

This paper considers a wireless network topology with a single source node, two destination nodes and a single decode-and-forward (DF) fixed relay node. The topology constitutes a basic building block in any wireless relay network. The relay node operates in the half-duplex mode, which leads to a significant loss of the network capacity. This gives rise to the broadcast channel approach and we suggest to use a layered broadcasting at the source node. The layered broadcasting gets benefits from reducing the time slots, on the cost of generating mutual interference in the broadcasting channel. The information-theoretic achievable rate of the optimal layered broadcasting is derived and we highlight the usage of the layered broadcasting in the wireless relay network. The results are encouraging in that the layered broadcasting has the larger achievable capacity region and is advantageous when the receiving nodes are close to the coverage border of the source node.
