청소년 인터넷·스마트폰 중독에 영향을 미치는 변인에 관한 메타경로분석

본 연구는 청소년 인터넷·스마트폰 중독에 영향을 미치는 변인과 이들의 관계를 종합적으로 살펴보고자 메타경로분석을 실시하였다. 선행연구를 바탕으로 청소년 인터넷·스마트폰 중독에 미치는 변인들을 불안, 우울, 스트레스, 자아존중감, 자기통제력으로 선정하고 이러한 변수 간 상관에 대한 평균 효과 크기와 변인 간 경로를 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 지난 10여 년 동안(2013년부터 2024년까지) 중·고등학생 대상의 각 변인 간 상관계수가 기술된 학술지, 석·박사 학위 논문들을 수집하였다. 최종 분석에 사용된 논문의 수는 총 385편이었다. 각 변인 간 상관 자료에 대한 평균 효과 크기를 산출한 결과 인터넷·스마트폰 중독과 우울, 불안, 스트레스는 유의미한 정적 상관을 보였으며, 자아존중감과 자기통제력과는 유의미한 부적 상관을 보였다. 또한 변인 간 경로를 분석한 결과 불안, 우울, 스트레스는 자아존중감과 자기통제력을 통하여 인터넷·스마트폰 중독에 영향을 미치는 순차적 이중매개효과를 나타냈다. 또한 불안, 스트레스는 인터넷·스마트폰 중독에 직접 효과를 가지는 부분매개효과를 가졌으며 반면 우울은 자아존중감과 자기통제력을 매개로 한 완전매개효과를 보였다. 본 연구는 기존 연구들을 종합하여 청소년 인터넷·스마트폰 중독에 미치는 변인 간 관련성을 통합적인 관점에서 분석한 점에서 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This study conducted a meta-path analysis to examine the factors affecting adolescents’ internet and smartphone addiction and the complex relationships among these study variables. Based on an extensive literature review, variables affecting adolescents’ internet and smartphone addiction were selected as anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, and self-control. In terms of the data, academic journals and master's and doctoral theses that described the correlation coefficients between each variable for middle and high school students over the past decade were collected. A total of 385 publications were used for the data analysis. The results of calculating the mean effect sizes of the correlations among variables showed that internet and smartphone addiction had a significant positive correlation with depression, anxiety, and stress, while internet and smartphone addiction had a significant negative correlation with self-esteem and self-control. Furthermore, the path analyses among variables indicated that anxiety, depression, and stress had dual mediating effects on internet and smartphone addiction through self-esteem and self-control. Additionally, anxiety and stress had partial mediating effects directly effecting internet and smartphone addiction, whereas depression had full mediating effects mediated by self-esteem and self-control. This study is significant in that it synthesized previous research to examine the relationships among variables affecting adolescents’ internet and smartphone addiction from an integrative perspective.
