잠재 지문 현출을 위한 실리콘 처리기법의 적용에 관한 연구

사건 현장에 남아있는 많은 유형 및 무형의 증거물을 분석·감정하여 특정 정보를 찾아내 현장 존재 증명 또는 개인식별 자료로 활용하고 있다. 그중에서도 사람의 손끝 마디에서 관찰되는 지문은 신원을 확인하는 중요한 자료로 활용된다. 특히 지문이 남겨진 검체의 표면 형태의 복잡성으로 인해 지문 전사판을 붙여 지문 채취할 수 없거나 사진 촬영이 어려운 곡면 형태일 때에는 실리콘 기법을 적용하여 잠재지문을 현출해야 한다. 이때 사용되는 실리콘 처리기법의 문제점을 분석하고 그 대안을 제시하였다. 실리콘 처리 시 상처 치료에 사용되는 면 붕대를 이용하여 기존 실리콘 처리기법을 더욱 효과적으로 사용할 수 있도록 개선하고 이를 검토·비교하였다.
Abstract
In crime scenes, a variety of tangible and intangible evidence is analyzed and assessed to uncover specific information that can be used to prove presence at the scene or for personal identification. Among these, fingerprints observed on the fingertips are crucial for identifying individuals. Particularly, when the surface complexity of the specimen makes it difficult to apply a fingerprint transfer plate or take photographs, especially on curved surfaces, the silicone technique must be applied to develop latent fingerprints. This study analyzes the problems associated with the silicone processing technique and proposes alternatives. By using gauze bandages, commonly used for wound treatment, the existing silicone processing technique was improved for more effective use.
