Abstract

This study classified into forest function is based on village history of Cheongsando. It was conducted for the purpose of preserving the village forest. The sites of study are 5 villages forests(Shinheungri 1 place, Eupri 1 place, Dangri 1 place, Dangrakri 1 place, Giri 1 place). The primary purpose of function of Cheongsando village forest was windbreak. Especially, Village forest was used to produce timber for shipbuilding after establishing Cheongsanjin(naval base). The songgye(松契) was organized to manage the production of pine tree. The people appealed to government because too many timbers were produced. All of 5 village forests are planted forests. But the forests have been developed as multi forest layers. The coastal forest dominant is Pinus thunbergii Parl. On the other hand, The dominant of inside village forest are sometimes Zelkova serrata and a Hackberry. Most Pinus thunbergii forests will be preserved. But Quercus acuta is expected to be a dominant species because of ecological succession. Cheongsando viallge forest is damaged by the use of tourists. The village forest is focused on recreation and cultural landscape in Choengsando too much due to invigoration of tourism. As time goes on, The function of village forest changes. It is necessary to pursue conservation and effective utilization to make Well-managed forest.
