담화 구조 학습이 읽기에 미치는 영향 - 설명적 텍스트를 중심으로 -

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to verify to what extent reading skills of non-native Korean language learners can be enhanced by teaching them discourse structures as a method of improving the capacity to effectively read and understand expository texts. The pre-test research hypothesis and post-test results are as follows. First, discourse structure learning will have a positive impact on learners' reading ability and thus there will be a meaningful difference in the results between the experimental group and the control group. The results clearly showed distinct differences. Second, improvements will be more distinctive in the evaluation item of 'identifying main idea' and 'guessing using discourse structure mark' compared to that of 'guessing through text flow'. The result was as was expected. Third, the degree of improvement will be most notable in the 'problem solving structure' among any other discourse structures. The extent of improvement was the highest in the 'compare & contrast structure' followed by the 'cause & effect structure' and 'problem solving structure'. (Ewha Womans University)
