북한 로동신문에 나타난 음악정치 양상 - 「로동신문」 1면 악보를 중심으로 -

본 연구는 북한 지도자 집권과정에서 북한 「로동신문」에 나타난 음악정치 양상을 살펴보기 위해 「로동신문」 1면에 게재된 악보의 소재와 가사의 특징, 음악적 특징과 게재 시점의 특징을 분석했다. 김일성 사후 김정일 권력 이양기(1994∼1997년)에는 소극적인 ‘지도자 형상’ 소재의 노래가 나타나지만, 김정일 공식집권 단계(1998∼2009년)에서는 ‘당·조국’ ‘김정숙’ ‘통일’ 등의 다양한 소재와 함께 본격적인 ‘지도자 형상’ 노래들이 나타나기 시작하며, 장중하고 힘 있는 분위기를 강조한다. 김정은 후계자 공식화 단계(2010∼2011년)에서 ‘김정은’ 형상 노래는 젊은 지도자를, ‘당·조국’ 소재 노래는 어머니 품과 같은 따뜻한 이미지, 백두혈통의 언급으로 3대 세습의 정당성을 강조한다. 김정은 공식집권 단계(2012∼2015년)에서 김정은은 김일성과 김정일의 부재를 대신할 수 있는 지도자로 묘사된다. 이를 통해 김정은 또한 김정일과 같이 그 양상은 다르게 나타나지만 음악을 정치의 수단으로 적극 활용하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 게재 시점의 특징으로 김정일 집권 시기에는 주요 행사의 기념을 위해 악보가 게재되었다면, 김정은 집권 시기에는 주요 행사의 기념 외에도 특정 사건의 부각, 분위기 전환 목적으로 사용하고 있다. 이 연구는 북한의 음악정치를 통해 당의 정책을 살펴보는 데 「로동신문」 1면 게재 악보가 의미를 가지며, 이는 집권 단계별 다양한 양상이 나타난다는 것을 확인했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
Abstract
The aim of this study is to analyze the use of music in a methodological construct of the public persona of North Korean Leadership. The study focuses on various characteristics of the musical score and lyrics posted on Page 1 of Rodong Newspaper. During the transfer of power to Kim Jong-Il after the death of Kim Il-Sung(from 1994 to 1997), musical pieces containing low profile images of the “leader” increased slowly overtime. After his final ascension to power, (from 1998 to 2009), musical pieces such as, “Party and Mother Land”, “Kim Jung-Suk”, “Reunification” and others, idolizing Kim Jong-Il became common place. This powerful use of culture impressed upon the people of North Korea Kim Jong-Il’s “leadership image”. In the beginning stages of Kim Jong-Un’s succession, (from 2010 to 2011), musical pieces depicting the young leader first appeared. In the piece, “Party and Mother Land”, the justification for a transition of power transition first appeared. The lyrics referred to three generations, starting with the warm image of mother and the natural progression throughout the bloodline of patriots. In the stage during which Kim Jong-Un formally seized the power, there appeared the songs which actively show the image of Kim Jong-Un. Kim Jong-Un was described as a great leader who can replace Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il. The lyrics in those songs justified the power transition and induced people to blindly believe the propaganda. It is witnessed that Kim Jong-Un uses the music as a political means as Kim Jong-Il did. The musical score appearing Page 1 of Rodong Newspaper is usually related to the main event of the date. In addition, the songs are posted on Page 1 with the purpose of giving special meaning or special propaganda to any event. This study has implication that the songs in North Korea represent message and images which the leadership in North Korea wants to show to their people to securely construct the communism system and idolize the leaders.
