문화유산에 대한 니체의 비판적 시각

니체는 불만족스러운 현대문화의 엄청난 역사적 욕구가 무엇을 의미하는지에 대해 문제를 제기한다. 그에 따르면, 그 욕구는 단절에서 온다. 그 균열을 메우기 위해 현대 인간은 오래된 질서를 기억하고, 그 유물과 기념품을 보호한다. 그러나 니체에 따르면, 문화유산과 역사적 기념물의 보호는 역사적 질병이며, 그것은 퇴치되어야 하는 현대문화의 전염병에 속한다. 그 역사적 질병은 약함, 즉 판단력 부족에서 비롯된다. 즉, 삶에 대한 이익과 불이익을 명확하게 구분하지 못하는 무능력의 결과이다. 이러한 무능력으로 인해 현대 인간은 역사적 질병에 대한 잘못된 처방에 예속된다. 니체는 그 두 가지 질병과 잘못된 처방을 구분하는데, 그것이 바로 기념비적 방식과 골동품적 방식이다. 이와 달리 세 번째 방식이 존재하는데, 그것이 바로 비판적 방식이다. 그것만이 구별하고, 진단하고, 유산과 유산보호에 대한 의지를 자극하면서, 역사적 질병에 대한 적합한 처방약으로 작용할 수 있다. 이러한 니체의 시각은 오늘날의 문화유산 논쟁에서도 등장하고 있다. 특히 그의 세 번째 방식은 보편주의적, 서구적 해석 권력에 대한 비판에서 그 연속성이 찾아진다.
Abstract
Nietzsche questions what unsatisfying, enormous historical desire of modern culture means. According to him, desire comes from the severence. To fill the gap, the modern remember ancient order, protecting artifact and memento. However, by Nietzsche, protection of cultural heritage and historical memento is included epidemic-like problem in modern culture, which should be eradicated as historical disease. That historical disease originates from weakness, the lack of judgemental ability: from the inablity to clearly discern advantage and disadvantage of life. Due to this discernable incompetence, the modern become subordinate to wrong prescription on historical illness. Nietzsche distinguishes those two disease and wrong prescription, which are monumental and antique-related method. On the other hand, the third method exists, which is the critical method. It is the only appropriate method as prescription on historical disease, distinguising, prescribing, stimulating will for heritiage and heritage protection. This perspective of Nietzsche appears in today’s cultural heritage dispute. Especially, his third one discovers the continuity from the criticism on universal and western interpretational power.
