Abstract
Orbital apex syndrome (OAS) can rarely caused by Mucocele within the paransal sinus. Until now, rapid surgical intervention has been considered necessary in cases where ocular symptoms arise due to mucocele. We report and analyze a case of a patient with OAS secondary to ethmoid sinus mucocele, whose symptoms had persisted for one year. A 62-year-old man, who complained of loss of vision in his right eye, visited the hospital. In the computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) imaging conducted, a mass suspected to be a mucocele was observed located in the right the most posterior ethmoidal sinus, pressing on the optic nerve canal. Despite a one- year duration from the onset of symptoms, surgical intervention was performed. The patient’s loss of vision completely improved after surgery.
