무의식 탐구로서의 연극: 오태석의 <자전거>

Abstract

Psychoanalytic criticism is the most important ways to understand O Tae-seok's dramas. His work <Bicycle(자전거)> is the quest of the unconscious, so we need to adapt psychoanalytic criticism. The hero, clergy Yun(윤서기) met a sudden accident at night. He lost his consciousness because of the ghosts. Who will be the ghosts? With his friends called clergy Gu(구서기), he must find the true identity of the ghosts. Through this process, he met his dead father and grandfather related in the tragedy of the Korean war and unfortunate past. They were killed unfortunately. He thought that he had tried to forget them. He gradually became 'wounded storyteller'. In this process, he found out the suppressions underlying beneath his consciousness. Through the oblivion and distortions, he wanted to escape from terrible realities. He met the patients suffered from leprosy too. Because they were cursed people, he wanted to escape from them. But he met another tragedies. His Drama lies between the dream and real life. The hero conflicted himself because of fear and pity. The passage through which the hero walks is the same way of the 'couch' which Sigmund Freud invented. Riding on bicycle, he went to the past backwards. Freud suggested the importance of the 'talking cure'. Clergy Yun and Gu talks together and play the roles through the play-within-play.
