조기퇴직자의 우울감과 영향요인 연구

본 연구의 목적은 조기퇴직자를 대상으로 우울감에 대한 조사를 통해 조기퇴직자의 우울 수준이 어느 정도인지를 파악하고, 조기퇴직자의 개인적, 가족적, 사회적 차원의 변인들과 우울 정도 간의 상관관계를 살펴보며, 우울감의 영향요인을 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 서울시에 거주하는 50대의 조기퇴직자 92명을 대상으로 서베이조사를 실시하였다. 분석 결과 조사대상자의 약 60%가 우울감을 느끼고 있고, 평균적으로 가벼운 기분장애 정도를 넘어 중간 정도의 우울감을 가지며, 약 27.2%는 심한 우울감을 가지는 것으로 나타남으로써 조기퇴직자의 우울 수준이 매우 심각하다는 것을 보여주었다. 관련 변인에 따른 우울 정도의 차이를 분석한 결과에 의하면, 개인적 차원의 변수 중 일상생활 만족도와 자존감, 가족적 차원의 변수 중 배우자와의 의사소통 빈도와 대화만족도, 환경적 차원의 변수 중 경제적 어려움, 사회적 지지에 대한 인식정도, 일하고 싶은 정도, 무료함의 정도, 그리고 교육프로그램 참여여부, 퇴직준비 여부 등의 변수가 유의한 관련을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 우울 영향요인을 파악하기 위한 회귀분석 결과에 의하면, 조기퇴직자의 우울 정도를 예측케 하는 가장 중요한 요인으로 검증된 것은 일(취업)하고 싶은 정도였으며, 다음으로 중요한 요인은 배우자와의 대화만족도, 무료함의 정도로서 일과 가족이 조기퇴직자의 심리적인 안정에 미치는 영향을 다시 한 번 확인케 했다. 본 연구에서는 위의 연구결과를 토대로 하여 거시적, 미시적 차원의 함의를 제시하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the degree of depression of early retirees and analyze the effects of psycho-social factors on the depression. The study categorizes determinants of depression in early retirees into individual, family, and social environment level. The respondents of survey research are 92 retirees residing in Seoul. The result shows serious level of depression among the subjects, the average retirees were suffered from moderate depression, and 27.2% of them are clinically diagnosed as severe depression. The range of reactions to early retirement is quite varied and is presumably affected by a wide variety of variables. This study examined variables to determine which particular combination could best predict the current level of depression. Five variables are found to be related to the depression, that is, anxiety for work, satisfaction of communication with the spouse, tedious hours, unstability of economy, and daily life satisfaction. The most powerful predictor of psychological distress is the variable of anxiety for work. We should make an effort to make changes in those intervenable variables such as work, tedious hours, unstability of economy. Finally, implications for alternatives to support early retirees from this study were provided.
