북한이탈주민의 부부관계와 사회적응의 관계에서 자활효능감과 우울의 이중매개효과

초록

이 연구의 목적은 남한에 정착한 북한이탈주민의 부부관계가 남한사회 적응에 미치는 영향을 검토하고, 이 두 변수 사이에서 작용하는 심리적 변수인 자활효능감과 우울의 이중매개효과를 검증하는 것이다. 본 연구주제를 탐구하기 위해, 서울과 경기, 그리고 인천에 거주하는 기혼 북한이탈주민 295명의 데이터를 사용하였고, 주요 변수들 간의 다각적 관계를 규명하기 위하여 구조방정식 모형(SEM)을 활용하였다. 분석 결과, 독립변수인 북한이탈주민의 부부관계가 종속변수인 남한사회 적응에 정적 영향을 나타내었고, 그 관계에 있어 자활효능감이 매개효과를 가지는 것으로 확인되었다. 북한이탈주민의 부부관계와 남한사회 적응 사이에 또 다른 심리적 변수인 우울 역시 매개효과를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 북한이탈주민의 부부관계가 그들의 자활효능감에 영향을 미치고 이것이 다시 우울에 영향을 미쳐 그 결과로서 남한사회 적응 정도에 영향을 미치는 이중매개효과가 검증되었다. 현재 북한이탈주민의 가족안정성, 특히 부부관계의 질과 안정성을 향상시키는 일은 시급하기에, 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 북한이탈주민의 부부관계와 자활효능감 및 우울에 적절히 개입함으로써 남한사회 적응을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안에 대해 논의하였다.

Abstract

This current study paid attention to the importance of marital relationship in adapting to new society, and focused on whether the self-support efficacy and depression of North Korean refugees had multi-mediating effect on the relationship between their marital relationship and adaptation to South Korean society. We assessed 295 married North Korean refugees who resided in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and Incheon. We used structural equation modeling to examine the dynamic relationships among main variables. The major findings of the study were as follows: Marital relationship among North Korean refugees that was the independent variable was positively associated with their social adaptation that was the dependent variable. The relationship between marital relationship and social adaptation was mediated by their self-support efficacy and depression. In addition, self-support efficacy of North Korean refugees is significant statistically in predicting their depression. Enhancing the marital stability among North Korean refugees is the most pressing issues. The findings of this study suggested the necessity for intervention that was focused on married couples, and the importance of psychological well-being for social adaptation among North Korean refugees in South Korean society.
