저소득 이혼여성의 빈곤화 과정: 가족제도와 노동시장에서의 사회적 배제 경험을 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 가족제도와 노동시장을 중심으로 이혼여성들에 대한 사회적 배제가 어떻게 일어나며, 사회적 배제를 일으키는 기제를 분석함으로써 이혼여성의 빈곤화 과정의 맥락을 심도있게 고찰하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울시에 거주하고 있는 저소득 여성가구주 중 이혼으로 인한 여성가구주 총 9명과 사회적 관계 안에서 이혼여성을 어떻게 배제시키는지에 관한 정보를 제공해줄 수 있는 정보제공자 5명을 유의 표집하고, 심층면접하여 질적사례연구방법을 실시하였다. 연구결과 저소득 이혼여성들은 전통적 가부장적 가족제도와 성차별적이며 인적자본중심의 노동시장 안에서 ‘이혼’에 대한 낙인과 차별, 모성의 구속 등에 의해 사회적 배제를 경험하였다. 특히 이혼여성의 빈곤은 사회적 관계 안에서 타율적 배제와 자발적 자기배제가 연동되어 하향지향적인 나선형의 구조를 통해 배제가 누적되어짐으로써 나타난 결과임을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과들을 토대로 빈곤한 이혼여성가구주의 사회적 배제 완화를 위한 대안을 제언하였다.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to identify the mechanism that causes social exclusion of underprivileged divorcees, which occurs in the family institution and labor market. For this, nine divorced women, and five offerors who are fit to get information from on how women are excluded in social context. This qualitative case study was proceeded by way of the participants’ interviews and questionnaires. Through analyzing social exclusion experiences, common factors were discovered that penetrate the areas related with social exclusion of the women. That is, social exclusion is intensified by such factors as stigma and discrimination, and commitment to maternity. In social exclusion of divorced women, heteronomous and voluntary exclusions are interlocked with a downward spiral structure that makes divorced women reduced to poorer states and intensifies the social exclusion.
