교육대학교 학생의 쓰기 윤리에 대한 경험과 인식

이 연구는 교육대학교 학생들의 쓰기 윤리와 관련된 인식을 조사하여 문제점을 찾아내고, 교육적 제언을 하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 학계와 정치계를 막론하고 사회 전 영역에 걸쳐 표절이 문제가 되어, 쓰기 윤리와 관련된 교육적 담론이 활성화, 구체화되는 시점에서 초등 예비 교사인 교육대학교 학생들의 쓰기 윤리 실태를 파악하는 것은 의미가 있다. 이 연구 목적을 달성하기 위하여 전국의 5개 교육대학교 1학년～3학년 588명 학생들에게 쓰기 윤리에 대한 인식을 묻는 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 조사 결과 교육대학교 학생들의 쓰기 윤리 교육에 대한 체계적인 학습 경험은 거의 전무하며, 학생들은 쓰기 윤리를 표절하지 않고 올바른 인용 방법을 사용하여 글을 쓰는 것으로 생각하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 표절에 대한 인식을 하고 있음에도 학생들은 쓰기 윤리를 준수하는 것에는 문제를 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났는데, 이는 과제 파악의 어려움, 글을 쓰기 위한 자료 찾기의 문제, 전공 지식 부족과 같은 원인에서 기인하는 것으로 파악되었다. 또한, 교육대학교 학생들은 대체로 자신은 쓰기 윤리를 고려하면서 글을 쓰고 있다고 인식하고 있었으나, 이에 비해 자신의 쓰기 윤리 실천 수준은 낮은 편이라고 평가하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구 결과는 교육대학교 학생들의 쓰기 윤리 인식이나 실천 수준이 높지 않음을 시사한다. 교육대학교 학생들의 쓰기 윤리는 그들이 미래의 우리나라 초등 교육을 담당할 예비 교사라는 점에서 더욱 엄격한 수준에서 요구될 필요가 있다. 교육대학교 학생들의 쓰기 윤리 교육을 위하여 쓰기 윤리를 위반하지 않게 하는 행동의 목록을 구성하고 이를 지도하는 명시적인 교육이 마련되어야 한다는 점, 쓰기 윤리를 교육하는 것과 함께 과제 구성 등의 측면에서 교수자의 노력이 필요하다는 점, 학생들의 쓰기에 대하여 쓰기 윤리 측면에서 보다 적극적인 피드백이 이루어져야 한다는 점, 필자로서의 쓰기 윤리와 쓰기 지도 교사로의 쓰기 윤리 두 가지 측면을 동시에 고려하는 교육대학교 학생을 위한 맞춤식 쓰기 윤리 지도 교육 프로그램을 개발해야 한다는 점을 제안하였다.
Abstract
The present study aims to investigate experience and perception of students in teachers colleges related to writing ethics, discover any issues, and make pedagogical suggestions. It is meaningful to determine the status of writing ethics of students in teachers Colleges who are pre-service teachers for elementary schools, at this time of active development of pedagogical discourse related to writing ethics as plagiarism becomes a problem throughout society, let alone academia and politics. In order to accomplish this study purpose, we conducted a survey that asked 588 students between freshmen and juniors in five teachers colleges in Korea in relation to perception of writing ethics. The survey results showed that there is little systematic education on writing ethics among students in teachers colleges, and the students think writing ethics means writing by using correct quoting methods without plagiarizing. Despite having perception of plagiarism, students were found to have difficulty in complying with writing ethics, due to the reasons including the difficulty with understanding the assignment, the problem with finding materials for writing, and the lack of knowledge in their majors. In addition, teachers college students thought they were mostly writing with the consideration of writing ethics, but, in contrast, evaluated the level of their practice of writing ethics was low. These results indicate that perception and practice of writing ethics of students in teachers colleges are not high. More stringent requirements are needed for writing ethics of students in teachers colleges in that they are pre-service teachers to be responsible for the future of our country’s elementary school education. For education in writing ethics for students in teachers colleges, we propose the following: (1) to prepare a list of behaviors to avoid violating writing ethics and providing explicit education of them, (2) instructors’ efforts in terms of creating assignment for as well as teaching writing ethics, (3) to provide more active feedback on students’ writing on the aspects of writing ethics, and (4) to develop educational program to teach writing ethics that is tailored for students in teachers colleges in the aspects of writing ethics both as a writer and as a writing teacher.
