다문화실천가의 몰인종적 태도와 문화적 역량에 관한 연구 - 다문화훈련의 조절효과를 중심으로 -

초록

본 연구는 다문화실천가의 몰인종적 태도와 문화적 역량의 수준을 살펴보고, 몰인종적 태도가 문화적 역량에 미치는 영향력을 파악해 몰인종적 태도와 문화적 역량과의 관계에 대해 다문화 훈련의 조절효과를 분석하는 연구이다. 다문화 관련기관에 종사하는 실천가 594명을 대상으로 서베이를 실시한 결과, 다문화실천가들의 인종적 편견 및 인종주의에 대한 몰이해의 정도는 우려할만한 정도의 높은 수준으로 나타나지 않았다. 다문화실천가의 문화적 역량의 수준은 문화적 지식과 기술이 문화적 인식과 문화적 태도에 비해 다소 낮게 나타났다. 몰인종적 태도가 문화적 역량에 미치는 영향은 전체 문화적역량과 문화적 역량 하위요인 대부분에 부(-)적인 영향력을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 몰인종적 태도와 문화적 역량과의 관계에 대한 다문화 훈련 경험의 조절효과를 분석한 결과, 조절효과는 전체 문화적 역량과 문화적 지식과 기술에서만 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 사회복지 실천현장에 기여할 수 있는 함의는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 문화적 역량을 감소시키거나 증진시키는 주요 영향요인에 대한 기초자료를 제공하였다. 둘째, 실천가가 어떠한 인종적 태도를 가지느냐에 따라 문화적 역량의 수준이 달리 나타날 수 있다는 의미있는 실증적 결과를 제시하였으며, 다문화 훈련 경험이라는 긍정적 보호요인의 조절효과를 확인함으로써, 문화적 역량 증진 전략을 위한 경험적 근거를 제공하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore general levels of multicultural service providers' color-blind racial attitudes and cultural competence, and then to analyze influence of color-blind racial attitudes on cultural competence and how service providers' multicultural training experiences results in the moderating effect in the relation between color blind attitude and cultural competence. For this study, data have been collected from surveys on 594 service providers. The result of analyzing levels of service providers' cultural knowledge and cultural skills turned out to be relatively lower than cultural awareness and cultural attitude. The result of analyzing the influence of color blind racial attitudes on cultural competence shows that total cultural competence and most of its sub-factors are subjected to the attentive influence. The result of analyzing the moderating effect on the experience in multicultural training in relation between color blind racial attitudes and cultural competence shows the result only in cultural knowledge and cultural skills. This study attempt and its results that may have applicative implications to contribute to the practical field of multicultural social welfare are as follows: First, it offers a basic material for significant factors to promote or to lessen cultural competence. Second, it presents very corroborative results making a point that according to a service provider's racial attitude, the level of cultural competence will be variable in the field of multicultural practice and offers various experiential bases on the strategies to promote cultural competence by verifying the moderate effect of positive protection factors.
