초록

노인운전자의 증가와 더불어 치명적인 충돌사고도 급증하고 있다. 노인운전자에서 상실은 자율성의 상실을 의미한다. 의사들은 보통 운전 중지를 결정해야 하는 의무 사이에서 갈등을 경험한다. 노인과 치매 환자의 운전안전은 노화에 관계된 요소(시각, 인지, 정신운동 및 근골격 기능), 건강상태, 약물 사용 및 노인운동행동에 의해서 영향 받는다. 노인과 치매 환자에서 안전운전을 평가할 수 있는 만족할 만한 검사는 아직까지 없다. 의사들은 더 나은 선별도구를 개발하고, 관련된 사람들을 교육시키기 위해 노력해야 할 것이다. 대체로 운전적성 평가는 진찰실 기초 평가(시각, 인지 및 운동기능검사 포함), 모의운전시험, 노상운전시험으로 구성되고 있다.

Abstract

Increase in the numbers of older drivers causes rapid increase of fatal crashes. The loss of driver’s license means loss of autonomy in the older drivers. Physicians usually experience conflicts about their obligation to decide driving cessation. Driving safety in the older drivers and the drivers with dementia may be affected by the age-related factors(visual, cognitive, psychomotor and musculoskeletal functions), health conditions, drug use, and older driving behavior. There is no perfect way to test for safe driving in the older adults and the patients with dementia until now. We should do our efforts to develop better screening tools and to educate related personnel. In general, the assessment of driving fitness is composed of the office-based assessment(including vision, cognition and motor function tests), driving simulators and on-the-road tests.
