Abstract
This Study aimed to clarify the correlation between Modern Korean-Chinese Sounds and Modern Chinese Sounds. The scope of this study is limited to the labial sounds between the two languages. The common similarities between the sounds of two languages are below. 1) ① The similarities of vowels [i, a, u] between two languages are very high. ② The coda [p, l, k] in Korean–Chinese syllables is deleted in Chinese syllable. ③ The coda [m] in Korean–Chinese syllables is merged into [n] in Chinese Syllable. ④ The coda [n, ŋ] in Korean–Chinese syllables is maintained in Chinese syllables. 2) The onset [m] in Korean–Chinese syllables corresponds to [m] in Chinese syllables with 79% ratio. The onset [m] in Korean– Chinese syllables under specific condition is changed to zero onset in Chinese syllables. 3) The onset [p]([pə], [pu], [po]) in Korean–Chinese syllable corresponds at high rate to the onset [f] in Chinese syllables. The onset [p]([pɛ], [pan], [pu]) in Korean–Chinese syllables corresponds at high rate to the onset [ph] in Chinese syllables. The onset [p] in Korean–Chinese syllables in the other condition corresponds at high rate to the onset [p] in Chinese syllable. 4) The onset [ph] in Korean–Chinese syllables under specific conditions corresponds to the onset [f] in Chinese syllable. The onset [ph]([phjəŋ], [phɛŋ]) in Korean–Chinese syllables corresponds at high rate to the onset [ph] in Chinese syllables, the onset [ph]([phil], [phik], [phan], [phje]) in Korean-Chinese syllables corresponds at high rate to the onset [p] in Chinese syllables.
