초록
This article explores vampire literatures of modern times as the cultural phenomenon including movies and television series. In particular, Anne Rice's The Interview With the Vampire and her vampire novels have expanded in the form of Films or TV series based on literature are the results of many artist' creative culturation. A wide variety of culturation can be analyzed by the romantic characteristic of Gothic novels, focusing Vampires as semi-humanized and/or selective unique (non)monsters between humans and monsters. Rice's works remind us of the same antisocial desires such as homosexual desires suppressed by the mainstream culture, representing subjectivity at the higher aesthetic aspects in both personal and social dimensions. Rice's vampires redefine human(ity) and especially emphasize the culturation effects about subjectivity beyond the monstrosities of Gothic(ism), borrowing and transformation, and excessive Gothic(ism) that violates prohibition. Therefore, there are infinite possibilities in the culturations from Rice's texts.
