Abstract
Social enterprise is a kind of institutional method to solve social problems and create social value. To invigorate the establishment of social enterprises social entrepreneurial intention should be stirred up. Traditionally, individual capabilities, business experiences, educations for venturing, and social networks of university students were emphasized as main drivers of entrepreneurial intention. Apart from those traditional drivers for university students’ entrepreneurial intention, this paper focused on virtuous mind such as empathy, altruism, and charity experience which could have impact on social entrepreneurial intention of university students. Survey targeting university students residing within Seoul City and Gyeonggi-do Province and regression analysis were carried out to examine whether virtuous mind can affect social entrepreneurial intention. According to results, it was revealed that charity experience could affect social entrepreneurial intention while empathy and altruism had no influence. In conclusion, implications for future research and field execution were suggested. With regard to the latter, entrepreneurial educations for emotional capabilities such as empathy, altruism, and charity experience should be revitalized and the level of founder’s emotional capital should be emphasized as one of certification requirements for social enterprise. With respect to the former, other emotional drivers of entrepreneurial intention should be uncovered and the combined effect of virtuous mind and traditional drivers of entrepreneurial intention should be investigated.
