The Meaning of the Household Goods in Dutch Religious Emblem: Jan Luyken’s Het Leerzaam Huisraad(1711)

네덜란드의 시인이자 판화가였던 얀라이켄의 엠블럼집, <교훈적인 가정용품> (1711)은 오십개의 가정용품에 대한 얀라이켄의 명상을 담은 종교엠블럼집이다. 이 작품은 당대 8쇄를 인쇄할 만큼 선풍적인 인기를 끌었던 베스트셀러였으나 문학사적으로나 미술사에서 이 작품에 대한 연구는 미흡한 상태이다. <교훈적인 가정용품>을 최초로 연구한 헬더 블롬 또한 ‘불’의 모티브에 초점을 맞추어 당대 독일사상가였던 야콥보메와 얀라이켄의 연관성에 집중하고 있어 네덜란드 역사에서 이 작품의 의미나 배경은 다루어지지 않았다. 본고에서는 네덜란드 문학과 미술에서의 가정용품의 상징과 의미를 살펴보며 얀라이켄이 기존의 엠블럼 전통에서 어떠한 모티브를 차용했고 그가 어떠한 모티브와 의미를 새로 창안했는지를 비교분석할 것이다. 또한 17세기 말 18세기 초 네덜란드에서 가정용품이 엠블럼의 주제로 출현하게 된 배경을 당대문화와 사회의 성격 안에서 고찰한다.
