오정희 소설에 나타나는 ‘죽음’의 의미 연구

Abstract

This thesis is a diachronic study on the change in the meaning of the motif of 'death' revealed in Oh Junghee's world of novel. The tragic world view consistent in her world of work is being formalized through the motif, and presented closely connected with the question that a woman character living a daily life should explore her own identity. The aspect of 'death' revealed remarkably in her early works is expressed as the destructive deviation from their boring daily lives by the characters, containing the existential anxiety of a woman character. In her middle works, it functioned as a medium for detecting the falsehood in a daily life, also expressed as a sign for a desire of the character disappearing in the life. In her recent world of work, it is existentially being spread to a journey for the character exploring her true self in the devastated condition of life through a cyclic view of time or maternity.
