Abstract

Relationship between narrator and characters is very important to the formation of discourse in the novel’s creation. Because the way of conveying stories becomes different definitely according to the relationship between narrator and characters. Especially the character of novel will be become different and the way to the communication of novel's topic will have differences according to how the narrator observers the characters at what kind of view and attitude. This thesis has studied that how to apply the narrator’s view and attitude of characters to the creation of works. The narrator’s view could be divided into three types: the positive view, the neutral view and the negative view. The view that narrator believe the character and let him play a spiritoso role in the story is a positive view, the view that telling the readers a general fact in a neutral way is a neutral view, and the view that criticising and satirizing the society is a negative view. The narrator’s attitude of characters appears differently in different works. That’s because that the author should find out the most proper attitude of narrator to the story and apply it to the novel. In this thesis, attitudes of typical characters of narrator referred through works are as follows: ①ridicule ②resistance; ③warning; ④commiseration; ⑤self-mockery. The author’s worry about narrator’s view and attitude of characters is consideration of readers. That is to say, in order to meet the expect of readers the author is constantly puzzling over that to let the narrator looks characters and world with what kind of view. The novel’s creator should consider that there is only one that the view and attitude of narrator most fitting the work and should make great efforts constantly until finding that. That’s because that in the novel’s creation the view and attitude of objects of the narrator are mainly applicable to the practice of aesthetics of the discours.
