본 논문은 개입 방식을 중심으로 청자가 설화 구연에 미치는 영향을 검토한 것이다. 분석 대상은 필자가 직접 조사한 자양동 이야기판이다. 청자의 개입 방식은 구연에 대한, 근본적으로는 화자의 가치관에 대한 동조 여부를 기준으로 긍정적인 경우와 부정적인 경우로 나뉜다. 이들은 다시 개입의 대상, 방식, 역할에 따라 전자는 수긍, 감탄, 보조 등으로, 후자는 의문, 비난, 수정과 이견 등으로 세분된다. 이들 세부 항목 간에 차이가 있지만 긍정적인 방식은 서사와 구연의 차원에서, 그리고 심정적⋅실질적 차원에서 구연을 보조한다. 반면 부정적인 방식은 구연을 지체시키고 심지어 중단시킬 뿐만 아니라 화자의 심리를 위축시킨다는 점에서 구연에 악영향을 끼친다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 청자는 설화의 생성과 변이의 토대인, 구연에 적지 않은 영향을 끼친다고 할 수 있다.
Abstract
I studied on the act of Chongja(聽者) upon the oral narration of tales, centering the styles intervening in it, in essay. The styles that Chongja(聽者) intervenes in the oral narration of tales are classified into affirmative one and negative one, according as he(or she) consent to the narration and to the view of storyteller essentially. And they are classified in detail, on basis of the subject, the style, and the act of intervening in. Affirmative one is classified into assent, admiration, assistance and negative one is into question, criticism. In spite of the disparity in degree to the item subdivided, the former assistants the oral narration at the levels of story, narration, emotion, and substance. On the other hand, the latter has a bad influence upon the oral narration in that delay and interrupt the oral narration, and even wither the mind of storyteller. Therefore Chongja(聽者) has a great influence the oral narration from that tales are generated and varied.
