지리산의 유네스코 생물권보전지역 지정 필요성과 전망에 관한 연구

1976년부터 지정되기 시작한 유네스코 생물권보전지역은 2014년 6월 말 현재 119개국 631개 지역에이르고, 한국에는 5개 지역이 지정되어 있다. 그러나 지리산은 생물권보전지역으로 지정될 수 있는 조건을 갖추었음에도 불구하고 아직까지 지정신청을 하고 있지 않다. 이에 본 연구는 문헌연구와 설문조사를 통하여 지리산국립공원과 그 연접 지역이 유네스코 생물권보전지역으로 지정될 필요성이 있는지 여부와 전망에 관하여 연구하였다. 연구결과, 지리산은 생물권보전지역으로 지정될 필요조건을 충분히 갖추고 있었다. 생물권보전지역에대하여 인지하고 있는 표본은 37.2%였으며, 지리산이 생물권보전지역으로 지정될 필요성이 있다고 응답한 비율은 73.3%였다. 그리고 90.7%에 해당하는 응답자들은 지리산의 유네스코 생물권보전지역 지정될 것으로 전망하고 있다. 따라서 지리산이 유네스코 생물권보전지역으로 지정되기 위하여 농림업에 종사하는 지역주민에 대한 설득 및 지원 대책 마련과 지리산권 지역사회의 사회통합이 필요하다.
Abstract
Since 1976 began to designate UNESCO’s Biosphere Reserve at the end of June 2014 reached 119countries 631 regions, five regions has been designated in South Korea. But despite furnish conditions of that Jirimountain can be designated as a Biosphere Reserve, still does not have to apply for designation. Through this study,prospected its evaluated for the needs and views of Jirisan National Park and the junction area to be designated asa UNESCO‘s Biosphere Reserve by literature research and survey. As a result, Jiri mountain has a fully equipped tothe requirements as to be designated Biosphere Reserve. Respondents of corresponding to 37.2% were know aboutBiosphere Reserve, and Jiri mountain be designated as a biosphere reserve that answer the need for ratio was 73.3%. And corresponding to 90.7% of respondents expected that Jiri mountain be designated UNESCO’s BiosphereReserve. Thus, be needed provide persuasion and support measures for local residents to engage in agriculture andforestry, social cohesion of the community at Jiri mountain region.
