Abstract

This study aimed to examine the awareness and needs of childhood cancer survivors regarding forest therapy programs and to suggest directions for developing tailored interventions based on their characteristics and preferences. A total of 97 childhood cancer survivors who had completed treatment at least one year prior participated in a structured survey. The questionnaire included items on general and health-related characteristics, interest in forest therapy programs, preferred components, and desired activities. Descriptive statistics, including frequencies, percentages, means, and standard deviations, were used to analyze the distribution of responses for each item. The results revealed that 77.3% of the participants had never heard of forest therapy, and none had ever participated in such a program. Overall willingness to participate was moderate, with “lack of time” and “find it bothersome” identified as major barriers. Participants showed a preference for programs held in the fall, in the morning, and on saturdays, and favored a mixed format combining indoor and outdoor activities. These findings suggest that forest therapy programs for childhood cancer survivors should be designed with tailored strategies that address low awareness and practical participation barriers.
