도농복합시의 인구변화 특징과 유형 분류

본 연구는 우리나라의 56개 도농복합시에서 전개된 인구성장의 특징을 탐색하고 인구변화의 유형화를 시도한 것이다. 도농복합시는 우리나라의 도시인구 비율을 증가시킨 요소로 작용했지만, 도시성장의 과정에는 도농복합시의 도시 간 불균형 성장과 도시 내 불균형 성장이 내포되었다. 도시와 농촌을 통합한 도농통합형 도시는 도시규모의 축소가 지배적이었지만, 기존의 군이 시로 승격한 도농복합형 도시는 인구증가가 지배적이었다. 서울과 부산의주변부에 입지한 도농복합시는 대도시를 중심으로 진행된 탈도시화의 영향으로 도시규모가 지속적으로 성장했다. 인구변화의 속성이 유사한 도시끼리의 유형화에서는 모두 5개의 유형이 도출되었으며, 도시지역과 농촌지역에서 모두 인구감소가 진행된 도농동반쇠퇴형이 가장 많았다. 도농복합시의 인구성장은 도시의 입지와 설치 유형에 따라 상이하게 진행되어, 서울과 부산에 인접한 도농복합형 도시에서의 인구성장이 두드러졌다.
Abstract
This study analyzed the characteristics of population change and attempted to classify the types of population change in 56 urban-rural consolidated cities. Urban-rural consolidated cities increased urban population rate, but the process of urban growth involved inter-city imbalances and intra-city imbalances. Urban-rural integrated cities that combined city and county (Gun) were dominated by the reduction of population size, but urban-rural complex cities, where the existing county were promoted to city, were dominated by population growth. Cities located in the periphery of Seoul and Busan achieved population growth due to the influence of de-urbanization centered on large cities. 5 types were derived from the classification of population change, and the urban-rural concurrent decline type, in which the population decreased in both urban and rural regions, was the most common. Population growth in urban-rural consolidated cities was different depending on the location and installation type of the city, and population growth in urban-rural complex cities adjacent to Seoul and Busan was remarkable.
