문장 종결형 ‘-다’와 ‘-라’의 기능 고찰

Abstract

This paper explores the distinctive functions of Korean sentence ending -da and -ra. These forms have been generally considered as the variable forms which have the same meaning or function in the previous studies. Though some previous papers discussed the difference of these forms, they couldn't make clear the difference between -da and -ra. These forms have different functions obviously. -da has the function presenting speaker' statements gained by speaker's thought. Whereas -ra has the function presenting quotatively to the listener. The sentence which ends by ending -da has the subject, predicate and form of tense essentially, because the statement is what includes the fact and tense. But -ra has not the tense's form generally because the report is what the speaker reports the quotation or existing texts or event by experience. And then these differences cause the restriction of pre-ending forms in the sentences whose endings are -da or -ra.
