Abstract

The result of the research work on numerals of Mongolian and Tureg languages show that there are not many similarties expect eki-iki-iyi which two in Tureg have close connection with Mongolian “iker” which means twin, dort, tort, dort which mean four in Tureg originally similar with Mongolian dorben-four and bin~min (thousand) are similar with Mongolian “mingga”-thousand. From the point of view of structural aspects of Numerals in Tureg and Mongolian we can divide it into simple and compound as other languages. The simple cardinal include from one to ten and hundred and thousand, while the other cardinal numbers are included in compound cardinals. In Mongolian one to ten and decimal numbers, additionally, thousand, and ten thousand are one syllable simple cardinals. It is important to realize how the compound cardinal numbers derive and originate. As a result of our research work we claim that there were three different methods of making compound cardinal numbers.
