Abstract

I explored Jimgam’s achievement in the viewpoints of the then politico- economical and religious situation with his inscription. Also I studied the Patriach’s thoughts and effect by his own teaching method Buddhist music (Bumpae). His ancient was Chinese who was naturalized in Koguryo. After the 3 nations-unification he was a Geummaian by Shilla’s removal policy. During the China-abroad-studying in 804 he learned Singam’s Dharma and Bumpae in Changjoo. He increased his evangelical power through this training. He returned to Shilla in 830. King Heungduk who experienced Kims' rebellion and gained the throne appointed him to the head monk of Jangbaek temple in Sangjoo. He decreeded Jingam to soothe Sangjooian who participated in the revolt. Patriarch tought them with Bumpae. After King Heungduk’s demise he moved to Mt. Jiri under the influence of the throne succeeding war. There were many people who wanted his preaching. He built Okchun temple on Nam ridge. Actively he brought up Bumpae monks. King Hungang made Jingam’s tombstone. In this time his Dharma had a Buddhist Sect. Jingam enlightened grassroots with the Southern Sect, but used traditional training method positively. He mixed Southern Sect and Buddhist traditional ways and founded his own Northern-Sect-annexing ideas. His thinking was connected to Heuiyang Sect by Patriarch Geungyang.
