월정교 구조의 새 해석

월정교는 경주 월성의 남쪽 끝에 있는 통일신라의 다리이다. 월정교지의 석재 중 귀틀형 석재는 홍예의 하중으로 인한 밀림과 뒤틀림을 방지하기 위한 것으로 생각되며, 난간형 석재는 일부는 난간석으로, 일부는 홍예석으로 추정된다. 하천바닥에 남아있는 井자 형태의 목재틀은 홍예틀의 하부 구조로 판단된다. 월정교가 홍예교일 수 없다는 기존의 주장 중 ‘홍예석의 부재’는, 상하 폭의 미미한 차이와 특이한 형태로 인해 홍예석으로의 판단이 어려웠을 수 있다고 생각되며, ‘교대가 수직이어서 홍예교가 될 수 없다’는 얼마간의 수직 교대 위에 홍예를 올렸음으로 설명할 수 있다. 월정교는 완만한 홍예로 된 석교 위에 회랑 형식의 지붕이 설치된 다리이다.
Abstract
Woljeong-gyo is a bridge of unified Silla which is located in the end of Sourthern area of Wolseong, Gyeongju. It is considered that the stone of a log frame type on the place of Woljeong-gyo was for the sake of prevention of pushout and distortion due to the weight of the arch. It is considered that some part edge of bridge rail type stone and the other part is arch stone. It is regarded that 井-shaped wooden frame left on the bottom of the river is the lower structure of the arch frame. It was considered that ‘Absence of Arch Stone’, one of existing arguments that Woljeong-gyo could not be an arched bridge was because slight difference of vertical breadth and its unique shape made it difficult to regard it as arch stone.’The argument that Woljeong-gyo could not be an arched bridge because the bridge posts are upright’ can be explained as its arch was built on some high posts. Woljeong-gyo is a bridge installed with a roof of corridor type on the base of a stone bridge built with gradual arch.
