Abstract
This study was carried out to investigate the relationship between resistance to brown planthoper (Bph) and some agro-nomic characters of rice using two japonica RILs (F4) of Milyang 95/Milyang 64 and Milyang 165/Milyang 64. Culm length, 3rdinternode length, moment and lodging index of resistant populations were significantly greater than those of susceptible ones.Heading date from 170 RILs of Milyang 165/Milyang64 showed significantly positive corelation with culm length, fresh weight,height of center gravity, 3rd internode length, 3rd internode breaking weight, stem weight of 10cm above the ground and moment.Eating quality from this population was also corelated with culm length and lodging index, which indicates good quality lines areeasy to lodge. Average culm length of resistant groups from 98 BC3F4 lines derived from Milyang 165*4/Milyang 64 was still sig-nificantly taler than that of susceptible ones.
