Abstract
Suwon295 at the Honam Agricultural Research Institute (HARI) in 2005. An elite line, 953017-BG-BN-BN-53N, was selected in2000 and designated as Milyang126. It showed good agronomic performance in the regional adaptation yield trials (RYT) from2003 to 2005 and was released with the name of Dajin having winter type growth habit. The average heading and maturing datesof Dajin were April 22 and May 26, which were 5 and 3 days later than Jinyang, leading variety, at the regional adaptation yield tri-2 (837) and higher 1,000 grain weight (43.1 g) thanthose of Jinyang in paddy field condition. Dajin was found resistance to Powdery mildew in regions of Suwon, Iksan and Milyang. It showed resistance to BaYMV at the regions of Naju and Jinju, moderately resistance at Milyang and susceptiblility at Iksan. How-ever, the response of Dajin to other environmental stresses was similar to Jinyang. The yield potential of Dajin in the regional adap-tation yield trials (RYT) was about 5.12 MT/ha in paddy fields which is about 23% higher than Jinyang. While in upland field inCheju province, Dajin showed about 5.50 MT/ha, which was about 74% higher than Jinyang. It has good malting quality includinghigh grain assortment, soluble nitrogen and germination capacity, high malt extract and short filtration speed. The Kolbach index anddiastatic power of Dajin were better than those of Jinyang.
