Abstract
Equilibrium headspace analysis in combination with gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) was used toidentify volatile compounds from the leaves of 76 individual plants of Agastache rugosa colected from 16 regions in South Korea.Chemometric investigation of the intraspecific variability in volatiles led to identify five main chemotypes; estragole (Type 1) asthe major component, and the other four chemotypes; methyleugenol (Type 2), methyleugenol+limonene (Type 3), menthone(Type 4) and menthone+pulegone (Type 5). Soraksan colection was classified methyeugenol type; Hambaeksan collection, meth-yleugenol+limonene type; Bongpyeong and Inje (two of three sample) collection, menthone type; Hongcheon and Inje (one ofthree sample) collection, menthone+pulegone type; all of the others colletions, estrgole type.
