Abstract
The Genetic analysis for eight quantitative characters related to the plant type was examined using diallel cross among thredifferent growth types of sesame(Sesamum indicum L.) in 2001. The parental varieties used for diallel cross were Ahnnam and Yang-baeck of indeterminate type(IDT), ksan#22 of semi-determinate type(SDT) parent, and dt-45 and Suwon#131 of determinate type(DT)parent. The performance of 10 hybrids of sesame(Sesamum indicum L.) was investigated to estimate heterosis for matured grain ratioand other component characters. The mean heterosis compared with mid-parental(MP) and better parent(BP) for matured grain ratiowere 107 to 96%, respectively. Out of ten, seven hybrids showed significantly positive heterosis over the coresponding MP for ratio ofmatured grain. The significant heterosis was also observed in other component characters such as capsule/plant, 1,000 sed weight, plant height, and flowering periods, indicating that their contribution to the heterosis in ratio of matured grains may be act for high sedyield. The hybrids of Yangbaeckkae dt45 and Ahnnam Iksan22 showed high heterosis and SCA efects for ratio of matured grains.
