A new freesia (Freesia hybrida Hort.) ‘Grace Girl’ was developed from selfing lines between ‘Athene’ and ‘Vienna’,followed by seedling and line selections at the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science, Rural Development Administration (RDA) in 2007. Characteristic tests were conducted three times from 2005 to 2007. ‘Grace Girl’ has double flowering florets with bright white color (RHS 155D). It has good production of cormlets, vigorous growth and low virus infection. It took approximately 135 days after planting for flowering of ‘Grace Girl’, and its vase life was 7.0 days. Based on greenhouse yield trials carried out from 2005 to 2007, the average yield of ‘Grace Girl’ was 8.3 flower stems per plant. ‘Grace Girl’ could be cultivated under greenhouse condition in Korea.
