Abstract
Purpose: To present a case of apocrine hidrocystoma occurring that occurred in the bulbar conjunctiva. Case summary: A 36-year-old male patient presented with a mass in the left conjunctiva noted a week prior to his visit. During the initial physical examination, slit-lamp examination revealed a relatively well-demarcated pink mass in the lateral part of the left bulbar conjunctiva. Orbital computed tomography showed a well-defined, contrast-enhancing mass measuring 4 × 10 × 21 mm in the left lateral conjunctival area, suggestive of a conjunctival epidermoid cyst. An excisional biopsy of the cystic mass was performed. Histopathological examination confirmed that the lesion was an apocrine hidrocystoma. Conclusions: Apocrine hidrocystoma occurring in the bulbar conjunctiva is extremely rare but should be considered in the differential diagnosis of a conjunctival cyst or mass.
