Abstract
This report presents the concept and application cases of derivative diagnostic analysis methods aimed at improving the precision of hydraulic properties evaluation results in deep fractured rock. Hydraulic conductivity, a representative hydraulic property of rock, can typically be determined by matching both the flow rate/drawdown curve obtained from field hydraulic tests and its derivative curve representing the rate of change of drawdown with the standard curves of an appropriate analytical model. Moreover, derivative analysis facilitates the identification of early hydraulic responses, flow regime transitions, and hydraulic boundary effects within the domain, which are often difficult to discern from conventional flow rate/drawdown curves over time. The effective application of derivative diagnostic analysis enhances the selection of optimal analytical models, thereby contributing to greater reliability in evaluating hydraulic properties of fractured rock through field hydraulic tests.
