Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the prefrontal cortex and stress from the perspective of health promotion. In order to achieve this purpose, in this study, a total of 30 participants were selected as the research participants in three groups: control, music meditation, and dance appreciation. In order to verify the stress control effect, changes in cerebral blood flow were examined using a near-infrared spectrometer. As a result, first, the prefrontal cortex that was activated in the appreciation of dance performances under stressful conditions was stabilized compared to the music meditation and control group. Second, the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and the ventrolateral prefrontal cortex are involved in stress induction and regulation. Theses results suggest that dance appreciation has a positive effect on stress control. This study will be a basis for emphasizing the importance of appreciation of dance from various perspectives and further enhancing the value of dance.
