Abstract
This paper attempts to re-examine the process of Gwangju Uprising in the aspect of human rights movement instead of the aspect of democratization movement. It also proposes the new conceptualization of this struggle composed of two stages, which expands it's time span to 2001, is different from the former one defined ‘10-day long Uprising.' For 21 years, people had fought against state repression which had committed many a human rights crimes. These crimes and people's struggle against these crimes were analyzed on the theoretical frame of three generation concepts of human rights. As a result, the perpetrators were jailed and the people's legitimacy and honor were restored. This paper is a description on the process of victory of people's human rights movement.
