The aim of the study, which focused on baby boomers residing in Daejeon Metropolitan City, South Korea, is to determine whether the post-retirement planning and self-efficacy of baby boomers influence their life satisfaction. We categorized the post-retirement preparedness into three groups: physical, economical and psychological preparedness. 259 baby boomers living in Daejeon Metropolitan City, South Korea participated in the survey and SPSS21 regression analysis as well as mediating regression model were used to analyze the survey results. Our study demonstrates that all three categories of the post-retirement preparedness and self-efficacy significantly affect baby boomers’ satisfaction with life. Among different variables, baby boomers’degree of preparedness for old age was the biggest influence on their satisfaction. The findings of this study provide the basis for future policies to improve the wellbeing of the baby boomer generation.
