본 연구는 일 지역의 종합병원을 중심으로 이루어지고 있는 호스피스 자원봉사자들의 자원봉사활동 만족도와 삶의 의미 정도 및 그 관계를 파악하기 위한 조사연구이다. 본 연구의 대상은 B광역시 2개 대학병원과 3개 종합병원에서 2005년 5월 1일에서 동년 6월 30일까지 호스피스 자원봉사활동을 하고 있는 사람들 중에서 연구에 참여하기로 동의한 102명 이었다. 자원봉사 활동 만족도 측정도구는 Francies(Cho, 1980에서 인용됨)가 개발하고, Cho(1990)이 번안한 것을 Kwon(1999)이 수정, 보완한 것을 사용하였다. 삶의 의미 측정도구는 Crumbach와 Mabolick(박화조, 1984에서 인용됨)이 만든 Purpose in Life (PIL) 도구 중 일부를 Namkung(1980)이 번안한 도구를 수정한 것을 사용하였다. 자료는 SPSS/WIN 12.0 프로그램을 이용하여 t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient로 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같았다 1. 호스피스 봉사자의 자원봉사활동 만족도는 평균 2.48점이었으며, 만족도가 가장 높았던 영역은 경험 영역(2.93±0.53)이었고, 가장 낮았던 영역은 사회적 영역(1.65±0.63)이었다. 2. 호스피스 봉사자의 삶의 의미 정도는 평균 3.20점이었다. 3. 대상자의 특성에 따른 자원봉사활동 만족도는 경제상태, 주당 자원봉사활동시간에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었다. 4. 대상자의 특성에 따른 삶의 의미 정도는 경제상태에 따라 유의한 차이가 있었다. 5. 자원봉사활동 만족도와 삶의 의미 정도는 약한 순상관관계가 있었다. 결론적으로 호스피스 봉사자의 봉사활동 만족도는 중간정도였고, 삶의 의미 정도는 중간보다 높았으며, 봉사활동 만족도와 삶의 의미 정도는 약한 순상관관계가 있었다. 앞으로 호스피스 자원봉사자의 봉사활동 만족도에 영향을 미치는 요인을 규명하는 연구와 만족도를 향상시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 것이 필요하다고 생각한다.
Abstract
This study was to investigate the satisfaction for voluntary activity and the meaning of life in hospice volunteers. Method: Data were obtained by self-reported questionnaire from 102 volunteers and were analyzed using a t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation. Result: The mean score of the satisfaction for hospice volunteer activity was 2.48±0.38. Of the domains of the satisfaction, the experience domain had the highest mean score (2.93± 0.53), and the social exchange domain had the lowest mean score (1.65±0.63). The mean score of the meaning of life was 3.20±0.33. The score of satisfaction was significantly different by economic status, and volunteering time per week. The score of meaning of life was statically different by financial status. There was a positive correlation between satisfaction for voluntary activity and the meaning of life. Conclusion: Satisfaction for hospice volunteer activity was significantly related to their meaning of life. In order to increase the satisfaction of volunteers, it is important to consider their financial aspect and the volunteering time.
