초록

In this study, we investigate clothing ironing, clothing care perceptions and habits, and current usage of iron products among adult men in their 20s to 50s. Additionally, we examine whether differences exist in clothing ironing and care behaviors based on ironing experience in the military or by age. A total of 640 adult men in their 20s to 50s who were discharged from the military and white-collar workers living in Korea are surveyed using a questionnaire. The data are statistically processed using SPSS 26.0, and descriptive statistics, frequency analysis, cross tabulation, and t-tests are used for analysis. The result shows that ‘ironing’ is perceived as the least preferred after ‘cleaning the house’ among houseworks. ‘Ironing’ provides the impression of ‘neatness.’ Replies belonging to the ironing category include ‘removing wrinkles from clothes using a hot plate iron’, ‘steam treatment with a steam iron’, ‘classifying clothes to be ironed by type’, ‘treating clothes using a clothing care device’, ‘crumples are treated’ and ‘spraying water on clothes’. Additionally, ‘functions of ironing’ and ‘wrinkle removal’ are recognized as the most important aspects. Compared with the men without military ironing experience, those with military ironing experience indicate significantly higher levels of ironing satisfaction and frequency (once a week), prefers luxury ironing information, verifies labels before ironing, and exhibit the intention to purchase course-selective iron products. Additionally, the older age groups indicate greater satisfaction with ironing and a higher ironing frequency (once a week). Based on these results, we provide basic data for the development of high- performance iron products.
