Abstract

Taekkyeon, a state-designated intangible cultural asset and also an intangible cultural heritage of mankind, has a very high status. However, Taekkyeon, like other intangible cultural heritage events, has many challenges for promoting transmission and sustainable development in the future. It is important to establish the standards for protection according to the circumstances of the transfer of intangible cultural heritage, starting with the securing of basic data by grasping the various status and conditions of the transmission of intangible cultural assets. It cannot be overemphasized that‘recording’is the core of various activities protecting intangible cultural assets. The concept of‘typifier’emphasized in the Act on the Conservation and Promotion of Intangible Cultural Heritage is a difficult task to solve for many officials, including those who have passed away, administrators, and scholars. Under these circumstances, it will be necessary to establish appropriate screening criteria for each event in the future. The importance of research on the status of Taekkyon's transmission is to discover the value of Taekkyon, which is continuously being made in modern times, and to explore and analyze the system of transmission that is perceived and practiced as a value that must be passed down. For this reason, the article emphasized the importance of Taekkyon Digital Archives to examine the current status of Taekkyon records, reveal various values and future heritage meanings of Taekkyon, and enable integrated research.
