이 연구는 Rawls와 Sandel이 주장한 정의론을 살펴보는 데 우선적으로 초점을 맞추었다. Rawls의 자유주의는 Kant 사상의 전통에 속해 있다. Rawls의 정의론은 ‘정당성이 선에 대해 우선성’을 보장하는 방법을 탐구하는 것에 입각해 있다. 그러므로 Rawls의 정의론에서는 자유에 대한 동등한 권리와 기회 균등이 부와 수입, 위계적인 사회적 지위 획득에 있어서 누구에게나 동등하게 개방되어 있어야 한다는 점을 강조한다. Sandel은 Aristotle의 정의 개념의 입장에서 Rawls의 자유주의에서 규정하는 인간관을 살펴보고 자유주의적 정치 공동체의 한계를 검토한 후, 개인의 자유보다 공동체에 대해 보다 깊이 이해해야 한다는 견해를 주장한다. Sandel의 주장은 사람들에게 그들이 받아야 마땅한 것을 주는 것이 정의이고 그리고 정의로운 사회는 인간이 지닌 능력을 최고로 계발하고, 선한 삶을 영위할 수 있는 곳이라야 한다는 것이다. 이 연구에서 두 번째로 초점을 둔 점은 Aristotle의 철학 속에서 가치 있는 것으로 여기는 덕과 인간 품성을 밝힘으로써 교육이 지향하는 목적을 탐색하는 것이었다. 『니코마코스 윤리학』과 『정치학』을 탐독하고 나면 Aristotle이 그의 저작들을 통해서 논하려고 한 것은 미덕을 함양하고 실현하는 것이 삶을 행복하게 한다는 것임을 알게 된다. 이것은 교육이 좋은 삶의 필수적 조건이 된다는 것이다. 따라서 교육이 인간성의 완성이라는 목표를 지향하는 한 교육의 본질적 목적은 사색에 몰두하는 것이 아니라 실천하는 과학이 되도록 탐구하는 것에 있다. 여기에서 교육은 공적인 일이며 국가적 관심이라는 결론이 도출된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to draw, from postmodernism, an alternative paradigm and public administration theory to complement the paradigmatic limits of global governance theories in order to propose normative implications for the climate change issue. A new paradigm is needed because global governance theory, the area of International Relations, including liberalism, realism, social constructivism, and critical theory, is limited to shed comprehensive light on complexity, fragmentation, and uncertainty of climate change issues. They also cause the dispute between reasons of dichotomy about who is responsible. Postmodern public administration theory will offer normative directions. Its conceptual words include imagination/sympathy, relativism, social construction, local context, empathy, alterity, and gender issues. The new paradigm should build emotional order based on coexistence and care to overcome the current reality of international cooperation dominated by rational order such hegemony and neo-liberalism.
