Mok (2014) resets the concept of grammatical category of ‘person’ in Korean, and includes the grammatical phenomena described as pragmatic considerations of ‘speaker/hearer’ and ‘person(thing)’ in syntax. We can evaluate the literature as a very unique achievement. This may be described in terms of pragmatic consideration in syntactic theory, that is, syntax-pragmatics interface. Strictly speaking, there are not many new grammatical phenomena revealed in the discussion of ‘personality’ in Mok (2014). From a new perspective, however, several grammatical phenomena have been just uniquely reinterpreted. In response to such creative reinterpretations, we commented positively from the viewpoint of liberal arts, but expressed concern about the possibility of shaking the whole system of existing Korean linguistics.
